New Books
Lots of friends with new books out this week. Because apparently I don’t have enough to read already? At this rate, I’m never going to reach the summit of Mount To Be Read!
Morgan Keyes’ Darkbeast Rebellion [Amazon | B&N | Mysterious Galaxy] is a middle-grade fantasy, the follow-up to Darkbeast, which I enjoyed and reviewed here.
Martha Wells has a Star Wars book out about Princess Leia, called Razor’s Edge [Amazon | B&N | Mysterious Galaxy], set between the events of Star Wars and Empire.
Anton Strout’s Stonecast [Amazon | B&N | Mysterious Galaxy] is the second book in his Stonemason Chronicles. There may or may not be were-jaguars.
Laura Anne Gilman’s Soul of Fire [Amazon | B&N | Mysterious Galaxy] is the second part of the Portals Duology, following Heart of Briar.
Marie Brennan has put together a collection of essays on writing fight scenes, called (appropriately enough) Writing Fight Scenes [Amazon | B&N].
Elizabeth Bear’s novella Book of Iron [Amazon | B&N | Mysterious Galaxy] is a standalone prequel to Bone and Jewel Creatures.
Finally, the tenth issue of Seanan McGuire’s serial Indexing [Amazon] has just been released.
As always, please feel free to suggest other new books I’m forgetting, or just share what you’re reading and enjoying right now.

I will never be caught up on my reading list. And I just keep going to library. Getting more books. And then people give me more books. Until I’m pretty sure I just need to quit my job, give up and do nothing but read.
Thanks for adding to the pile!

If the trend continues, you will eventually reach a point where your “to be read” stack will exceed your projected lifespan. At which point, you will have to strike a bargain with Death. 🙂

Oddly enough, Isaac has a conversation very similar to that in Codex Born 🙂

Jim, I hope you realize that I will now be using “Mount To Be Read” at every oportunity(but I promise to give you credit!).
I’ve just figured that I will continue to scale the Mount without ever reaching the top (and, honestly, what would I do if I ever reached the top?? THAT is a scarier thought to me!!)

I’m waiting for the bookstore to call and let me know that Tamora Pierce’s “Battle Magic” has arrived. Why doesn’t that phone ring?

Hello I am currently reading the princes series for the first time. I am on book two I keep thinking of queen Bea as Bell from beauty and the beast.
I found a really good young adult book that I would call the Harry Potter of sci fi its the city of falling sky by Joseph Evans. But I worried cause on amazon he is listed as both author and publisher the book is so great but it needs to be read by more people.
