Friday LEGO
Quick blog post today before setting off for Penguicon this afternoon. Hoping to see some of you there!
Assuming the schedule doesn’t change, I’ll be doing a five-hour panel block Saturday afternoon. If I crash the author signing at 6:00, it’ll be six hours nonstop. Should be interesting to see how coherent I am by the end of the day!
I’m also doing a reading on Sunday with Sarah Monette and Pat Rothfuss, which should be fun. I’m still trying to decide which bit to read out of Red Hood’s Revenge.
Unrelated to Penguicon, I have web site envy. I mentioned the book Feed yesterday. Today, the Feed Book site launched. ‘Tis most nifty.
Finally, your Friday LEGO, courtesy of Mrs. Monster. Click here or on the picture for the full set. (She’s also done Marvin the Martian, among others!)

Wowie, the things you can do with legos! *_* Sam looks live and ready to shoot up some varmints right now! Lol~
Have fun at Penguicon. How I wish I could come see you and Pat, but alas, too far away in California. Why do all my favorite authors live in the midwest?? Hmm, since it seems to breed authors who write the kinds of stories I like, maybe I should move out there too. Wonder how friendly folks are to minorities out there… =\

I was really impressed with how well this one captured the cartoon look.
Penguicon was a blast, thanks! As for minorities, I think it depends in part on where in the midwest we go. I grew up around here, and at the time my school was about 95% white, but that’s been changing over the past 20-30 years.

Jim, don’t be offended, but… you’re a minority? *blinks* Really? You look pretty white/your name sounds pretty white to me? ^^; Are you Jewish? Just curious. 🙂
And I don’t mind if the vast majority of the town is white–I just wonder how tolerant they’d be of a random Asian person in town.

Nope. Straight, white, male … about as majority as they get around here. ::Rereads last comment to see if I misspoke::
I don’t think there would be a much of a problem. But I’m trying to be careful here, because I also know that as a SWM, I don’t always see people’s prejudices, if that makes sense? But we’ve got black and Hispanic families on my street, and I game with a guy who’s half Korean, and I’m not aware of any problems/intolerance with any of them.

Ah, it was the “depends where we go”–thought you meant “we” as in “where we minorities go.” My bad. ^^;
Thanks for the info~
