About the Book:

About Jenna Black:

Jenna Black got her BA in physical anthropology and French from Duke University.

Once upon a time, she dreamed she would be the next Jane Goodall, camping in the bush making fabulous discoveries about primate behavior. Then, during her senior year at Duke, she did some actual research in the field and made this shocking discovery: primates spend something like 80% of their time doing such exciting things as sleeping and eating.

Concluding that this discovery was her life’s work in the field of primatology, she then moved on to such varied pastimes as grooming dogs and writing technical documentation. She is now a full-time writer and lives in North Carolina with her husband and two dogs.

The audio books are full-cast recordings from Graphic Audio, and the trilogy retails for $60. Each book comes as six CDs, with a runtime of approximately six hours apiece. They’re new and shrink-wrapped, but I’ll be happy to open them up and autograph them to you before mailing them, if you’d like.

About book one:

Jig the goblin was the runtiest member of an admittedly puny race. Jig was scrawny, so nearsighted as to be almost blind, and had such a poor self-image that when he chose a god to worship it was one of the forgotten ones – after all, what other sort of god would have him as worshiper? He also had a cowardly fire-spider for a pet, a creature that was likely to set your hair on fire if it got into a panic. Made to stand tunnel watch by the goblin bullies who’d been assigned the job, it was just Jig’s luck to be taken captive by a group of adventurers – with the usual complement of a dwarf warrior, a prince out to prove himself, his mad wizard brother, and an elfin thief. Forced to guide this ill-fated party on their search for the Rod of Creation – though Jig had no more idea how to find it than they did – he soon had them stumbling into every peril anyone had ever faced in the fantasy realms. And they hadn’t even found the Necromancer or the Dragon yet!

Naomi Kritzer grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, though she was born in North Carolina, lived in Indiana and Houston, Texas before she turned five, and spent a year living in London when she was 13. She moved to Minnesota to attend college, and hasn’t left. She and her husband have two daughters and three cats. In addition to her short fiction, she’s published six fantasy novels with Bantam Books. Her story “Cat Pictures, Please” was nominated for the Nebula award, and won the 2016 Locus and Hugo awards for Best Short Story.

About Sherwood Smith:

Sherwood Smith studied in Europe before earning a masters in history. She worked as a governess, a bartender, an electrical supply verifier, and wore various hats in the film industry before turning to teaching for 20 years. First book published in 1986. To date she’s published over forty books and been nominated for several awards, including the Nebula, the Mythopoeic Fantasy Award, and an Anne Lindbergh Honor Book.

Reminder #1: Mary Anne Mohanraj and I are still looking for poems and proposals for Invisible 3. We’re interested in personal essay topics about representation in science fiction and fantasy, and poems exploring the same. Transgender Michigan was founded in 1997, and continues to run one of the only transgender helplines in the country, available 24/7 at 855-345-8464. Every tax-deductible donation helps them continue to provide support, advocacy, and education.

Day two brings us an autographed advance review copy of THE NATURE OF A PIRATE, by A. M. Dellamonica.

About the book:

  2. Enter your bid in the comments. Bids must be a minimum of $1 more than the previous bid. (No bouncing back and forth in the bids one penny at a time.) Make sure to include an email address I can use to contact you.
  3. Each auction will run for 24 hours, starting at noon Eastern time and running until noon the following day.
  4. To discourage last-minute sniping, I’ll wait until 10 minutes after the last bid to close an auction.
  5. If you want to be notified about other bids, check the “Subscribe to Comments” box when you bid.

Winning the auction:

I’ll contact the winner, who will then donate the winning bid to Transgender Michigan. You’ll forward me a copy of the receipt, at which point, I’ll contact the donor to arrange delivery of your winnings.

About A. M. Dellamonica:

A. M Dellamonica‘s first novel, Indigo Springs, won the Sunburst Award for Canadian Literature of the Fantastic. Her fourth A Daughter of No Nation, has just won the Prix Aurora. She is the author of over forty short stories in a variety of genres; these can be found on Tor.com, Strange Horizons, Lightspeed, and most recently, Beneath Ceaseless Skies. She teaches writing in person at the University of Toronto and online through the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program.

Dellamonica tells people she is bigendered, bisexual and bisectional. (The latter means that she sings both soprano and alto.) She has just completed her freshman editing project, the Heiresses of Russ 2015 anthology with co-editor Steve Berman of Lethe Books.
